DURHAM, N.C. – Eighth-ranked Duke (14-3) defeated Michigan (8-6), 2-1, in the home opener at Duke Softball Stadium on Thursday afternoon.

Dani Drogemuller started in the circle and tossed her third complete game of the season. The Frankfort, Ill., native allowed one run on four hits with three strikeouts in her 7.0 innings of work to improve to 5-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first two frames, junior D'Auna Jennings gave Duke the lead in the bottom of the third, reaching on a Wolverines' throwing error that brought in redshirt junior Jada Baker from second. Baker led off with a hit by pitch before moving up on an infield single from freshman Brooklinn Thomas.
- Thomas extended the Blue Devils' lead to 2-0 after coming home on a groundout from senior Ana Gold following Jennings.
- Michigan answered in the top of the fourth using a two-out infield single to push its lone run across the plate.
- Drogemuller settled back in to limit the Wolverines to just one hit over the next two frames to secure the 2-1 victory.
NOTES
- Drogemuller threw the 29th complete game of her career.
- She improves her season ledger to 5-1 after eight appearances in the circle.
- Gold and Jennings tallied their 15th and fourth RBI of the year, respectively.
- Baker and Thomas each finished 1-for-1 and accounted for Duke's two runs.
- The Blue Devils shift the all-time series to a 3-1 advantage.
- Duke now carries a 10-game winning streak into the weekend series with South Carolina.
