DURHAM, N.C. – Duke women's soccer assistant coach
Carla Overbeck was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame this past weekend at the BASE at Extraco Events Center in Waco, Texas.
Overbeck was one of eight individuals inducted including Cedric Benson, Todd Dodge, Brittney Griner, Ed "Too Tall" Jones, Biz Mackey, Chris Plonsky and Richmond Webb.

Recently completing her 33rd season on the Duke staff, Overbeck has helped lead the Blue Devils to the NCAA Tournament 29 times, including the NCAA College Cup appearances in 1992, 2011, 2015, 2017 and 2024.
Overbeck grew up in Richardson, Texas and attended Richardson High School. A former college soccer player herself, Overbeck won four consecutive national championships with the University of North Carolina.
In addition to her accomplished college career, Overbeck played for the U.S. Women's National Team from 1988-2000, playing in three Women's World Cups and the 1996 Olympic Games where she was captain and led the team to a gold medal. In her professional career, Overbeck also won a WUSA league title in her time with the Carolina Courage and a W-League championship with the Raleigh Wings.
In 1999, Overbeck was named the Sports Illustrated Sportswoman of the Year and was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2006.
