DURHAM, N.C.—Duke men's lacrosse junior
Aidan Maguire garnered his second consecutive weekly honor, earning a spot on the USILA Team of the Week for his defensive effort in the 14-9 win at Jacksonville.
Maguire, on the heels of being selected the ACC Defensive Player of the Week, was named to the USILA Team of the Week for the first time in his career. The junior defensive midfielder had a career day at Jacksonville, forcing a career-high three turnovers, picking up a career-best five ground balls and dishing an assist.
The native of Hingham, Massachusetts picked up a ground ball off a faceoff win and raced down the field, finding
Liam Kershis for the goal to give Duke its first two-goal lead in the contest.
After two games this season, Maguire has nine ground balls and five caused turnovers, matching his total from seven games last season. His 30 career caused turnovers are nine away from tying for 10th in Duke men's lacrosse history.
Ranked seventh in the latest poll, Duke returns to the field Saturday, Feb. 15 against Saint Joseph's. Faceoff is set for 12 p.m., at Koskinen Stadium.
