CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Duke track and field junior
Lauren Tolbert has been crowned the ACC Women's Indoor Track Performer of the Week after turning in another record-breaking performance this past weekend at the Doc Hale VT Meet.
Tolbert kept a sensational junior campaign going as the junior knocked of her third program record of the indoor campaign. Taking part in her first collegiate 500m race, Tolbert made her presence known, sprinting her way to the first-place finish and the No. 1 spot in program lore via a time of 1:10.49. Tolbert's time shattered Kate Van Buskirk's 2011 mark and currently ranks No. 2 in the nation.
The junior was also a part of the women's 4x400m relay that posted a win courtesy of a season's-best performance. The quartet of Tolbert,
Megan McGinnis,
Braelyn Baker and
Aliya Garozzo clocked 3:34.12 to lock up the first-place finish, with the time checking in at No. 5 all-time.
Duke features a split squad as the Blue Devils gear up at the BU Valentine Invitational (Boston, Massachusetts), Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational (Clemson, S.C.) and the Darius Dixon Invitational (Lynchburg, Virginia). All three meets are slated for Feb. 14-15.
