Duke to Face Four Top-10 Opponents Sunday at Elite Invitational

DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke fencing team is set to face its toughest competition this weekend, competing against a quartet of top 20 opponents at the Elite Invitational hosted by Ohio State Sunday, Nov. 9 at French Field House.
The Elite Invitational
Admission and parking are free. Fans are welcome to bring in outside food; no concession stands will be available. A livestream of the action will be available by signing up for an account with fencingtv.com.
Duke opens the day against Penn at 8 a.m., following with Harvard at 9:30 a.m. The Quaker men are ranked sixth while the women are seventh while Harvard is third in both.
Fourth-ranked Princeton awaits the Blue Devils for an 11 a.m., bout as Duke caps the day against No. 5/6 Ohio State at 1:30 p.m.
Duke Lands in Top 10 in Preseason Poll
The Blue Devils head into the weekend with the women ranked eighth and the men ninth in the USFCA 2025-26 preseason poll. All five ACC programs are among the top 20 with Notre Dame coming in at No. 1 on the women's list and second on the men's.
The Men's Lineup
The Blue Devil men look to carry the momentum from their win over North Carolina last weekend. The épée squad was the story for Duke, winning the final three points to emerge with the 14-13 victory. Guilio Pech was the hero as he picked up the clinching win.
Both Boroditsky and Lin went 2-1 against the Tar Heels with Pech picking up a win in his lone bout to close the day. Ethan Huang and Owen Li are also 2-1 after one dual match.
Men's Saber: Lev Ermakov, William Holz, Ethan Huang, Zachary Shoman
Men's Foil: Dayaal Singh, Owen Li, Aidan Lee
Men's Épée: Peyton Young, Ethan Boroditsky, Giulio Pech, Kyran Lin
The Women's Lineup
Duke heads into its second dual match after falling to North Carolina last weekend. The lineup featured a host of freshmen competing in their first dual with the foil squad capturing a victory. Both Sophia Shen and Skylar Knight went 2-1 in the weapon while Meera Desai led the épée group with a 2-1 mark.
Women's Saber: Kunling Tong, Hava Stone, Victoria Gorman, Natalie Olsen
Women's Foil: Skylar Knight, Zizi Newhard, Sophia Shen, Abigail Lau
Women's Épée: Yeva Mazur, Vanessa Lin, Meera Desai, Daniella Barg
