DURHAM, N.C. – Duke sophomore
Julia Boehringer and senior
Alaina McVeigh were named to the ACC Field Hockey Championship All-Tournament Team following their stellar performances in Duke's pair of contests against California and North Carolina.
The duo combined for seven goals and an assist for 15 points in Duke's ACC Championship outings. Duke defeated Cal, 7-1, in the quarterfinals before falling to eventual ACC Champion North Carolina, 5-2, in the semifinals.
In the opening contest against Cal, Boehringer registered her first career hat trick and the first by a Blue Devil since Hannah Miller had five versus Longwood Sept. 8, 2023. The three goals gave her 10 for the season. McVeigh tacked on two goals and an assist, matching her career high five points.
Two days later versus the Tar Heels, McVeigh added two more goals to become the 13th Blue Devil to record 100 points for her career. The senior Blue Devil has 44 goals and 14 assists for 102 points with 44 goals ranking ninth in Duke history and the 102 points are 10th in Blue Devil lore.
The Blue Devils are 12-7 overall and await their next opponent in the NCAA Championship. The NCAA selection show is set for Nov. 9 at 10 p.m., on NCAA.com with the first round commencing Nov. 14.
