DURHAM, N.C. – Duke junior
Bryan Kim has been named the ACC Men's Golfer of the Month for October, following a dominant stretch that featured two top-five finishes, including an individual title at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate.
Kim posted under-par scores in all six rounds during October, including five rounds in the 60s, while averaging 68.3 for the month. He helped the Blue Devils to consecutive runner-up team finishes at The Bryson Invitational in Charleston, South Carolina, and the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate in Alpharetta.
At the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate, Kim fired rounds of 65, 69 and 71 for an 11-under-par 205 to capture medalist honors in a 14-team field that featured nine top-30 programs and four of the top-five ranked golfers in Division I. He closed the tournament with back-to-back birdies to secure his second individual victory of the fall season, finishing two strokes clear of Pepperdine's Mahanth Chirravuri and three ahead of Virginia's Ben James, the nation's top-ranked collegiate player.
Kim led the field with 18 birdies and tied for the tournament lead in par-3 scoring at 2-under, as Duke carded a team score of 855 (277-283-295) to finish second overall.
Earlier in the month, Kim tied for fourth at The Bryson Invitational, recording rounds of 68, 69 and 68 for another 11-under 205 in a 15-team field that included three ranked opponents. He rolled in 16 birdies - second most in the field - and again topped the leaderboard in par-3 scoring at 2.75 (-3).
Kim now owns a team-best 70 birdies this season and has registered four top-five finishes, including two individual titles.
