NEWTON, Mass. – Three different Blue Devils scored goals, and the eighth-ranked Blue Devils locked down on defense to earn a 3-1 road win at Boston College in ACC field hockey action Friday night.

Alaina McVeigh and
Shae Wozniak added markers in the third quarter to secure the Blue Devils' fourth conference victory of the season.McVeigh also added two assists in the game.
How it Happened
- Duke got on the board in the eighth minute, set up by a great drive into the penalty circle from sophomore Madison Beach. The Blue Devils' assist leader got to the baseline and sent a centering pass for McVeigh whose shot was saved by Boston College goalkeeper Charlotte Kramer and Beach was there to push the rebound across the line.
- The Blue Devils held much of the possession in the opening 15 minutes, needing goalie Kaiya Chepow to kick away one shot from Maeve Seeger. Duke finished the first period with two shots.
- Chepow came up big in the opening minute of the second quarter, coming off her line to deny Madelieve Drion. Duke did well to defend the Eagles' first penalty corner of the night and quickly went the other way to earn its first penalty corners of the night.
- Duke continued to pepper the Boston College goal in the second quarter, forcing the Eagles to make a handful of saves, including a defensive stop by Mia Garber to keep the Blue Devils' lead to just one after 30 minutes of action.
- McVeigh got her first goal of the night in the 36th minute, sneaking her shot inside the near post. Julia Boehringer provided the assist from the penalty corner, deceiving the Boston College defensive unit and finding McVeigh on the post following the insert.
- Wozniak put the game out of reach for the Blue Devils, adding a third goal two minutes later. The rookie forward outraced the Eagle defenders to a McVeigh pass and lifted the ball over Kramer as she went down to the turf for the stop.
- Boston College spoiled Duke's shutout effort in the 54th minute as Laila Rosenquest put a rebound in past Chepow. The Eagles finished the game with 12 shots, tying for the most by a Duke opponent this season.
- Chepow capped her night with a career-high six saves while Kramer had three and Carine van Wiechen two for Boston College. Duke held a 17-12 edge in shots for the game.
