Wallace Advances to Semifinals at Southern Scuffle

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The Duke wrestling team competed in its first action of the 2025 campaign on Saturday at the Southern Scuffle, which is being contested at UT-Chattanooga in Chattanooga, Tenn.Â

Blue Devil sophomore Aidan Wallace led the charge for Duke as he advanced to the semifinals of the 165 weight class. Wallace, who hails from Mahwah, N.J., won all four of his matches to move on. He opened the day with a 5-1 decision against Northern Colorado's Daishun Powe. Wallace then collected an 11-1 major decision against Chattanooga's Alex Hutchcraft and then a 2-1 decision versus Little Rock's Gunner Holland. In the quarterfinals, Wallace registered his first collegiate ranked victory with an 8-4 decision against 28th-ranked Domonic Baker of Campbell.Â

Wallace is set to face 32nd-ranked and second-seeded Tate Picklo on Sunday in the semifinals.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After dropping his first match of the day, Raymond Adams notched a 22-6 tech fall win against Carson Chalk of Chattanooga and then posted a 4-1 decision win versus Davidson's John Hager at 133.Adams fell in the consolation round of 16 to Blake Reihner of Davidson by a 4-1 decision.
- Logan Ferrero collected a 6-0 decision win versus Ryan Bolletino to open the consolation bracket, but fell, 19-3 by tech fall, to Brayden Roberts of Long Island to conclude his run.Â
- Duke's 29th-ranked heavyweight Connor Barket opened the event with a 12-1 major decision against KJ Miley of Little Rock.He then moved on to the quarterfinals with a 4-1 decision against Emmanuel Ulrich of American.In the quarterfinal round, Barket fell by 21-6 tech fall versus Cole Mirasola of Penn State.
NOTES
- With his four wins, Aidan Wallace now owns a team-high 19 wins and an overall record of 19-4 on the season.
- Connor Barket features a 17-3 record at the heavyweight ledger.
- Since dealing with injuries following the opener Nov. 3, Logan Ferrero collected his first victory since the season opening contest.
- After collecting two wins on Saturday, tri-captain Raymond Adams owns a career-best six wins on the season.He totaled five as a redshirt freshman a year ago.
