HOW IT HAPPENED
- As a team, Duke turned in its best 18-hole effort of the event with its 1-under, 283, in the final round and secured a solo finish in eighth place for the tournament.
- Kelly Chinn was first off the tee for Duke's lineup and set the tone early with two early birdies, on back-to-back holes, No. 2 and 3. After making the turn to the back-nine, Chinn sandwiched a lone bogey in between birdies on No. 10 and 12, before closing his round with five pars and one additional birdie, on the 452-yard, par-4, 16th. Chinn signed for a 3-under, 68, in the final round and ended the tournament at 11-over, 224, and in a tie for 52nd place.
- Bryan Kim signed for the other under-par round of the day for Duke, posting a 1-under, 70, in the third round. The junior played the front-nine at 1-over, bookending the first nine holes with bogeys while rolling in a birdie on the par-5 fourth. After making the turn, Kim rolled in four birdies, while only dropping two shots, to end the day in red figures. His birdies on the back-nine came in a six-hole stretch, spanning holes No. 11 through 16. Kim ended the week at 2-over, 215, and in a tie for 21st.
- Ethan Evans signed for an even-par, 71, on Wednesday. After beginning his round with two pars, Evans used a birdie on No. 4, a par-5, to help bounce back from bogeys on No. 3 and 5. The junior took advantage of the other front-nine par-5, rolling in a birdie on No. 7, to make the turn at even-par. Evans briefly reached red figures, with a birdie on No. 11, but back-to-back bogeys returned him to 1-over for the round. With a closing birdie, Evans finished the tournament at 2-over, 215, joining Kim in a tie for 21st over.
- Luke Sample played his first five holes at 5-over, but rebounded by playing the remainder of his round at 2-under, en route to a 3-over, 74, on Wednesday. The senior rolled in four birdies while scattering just two additional bogeys across the rest of his day, including bracketing his back-nine with birdies on No. 10 and 18 to end the round with momentum. Overall, Sample secured a tie for 26th place, at 3-over, 216.
- Ollie Mukherjee rounded out Duke's lineup, signing for a 14-over, 85, on Wednesday. The freshman played the tournament at 22-over, 235, and ended in 73rd place.
