THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - The Duke men's golf team returns to action for the first event of it spring schedule, participating in the Southwestern Invitational on Jan. 27-29. The Blue Devils travel west to Sherwood Country Club for the three-day tournament and is one of 14 teams in a competitive field that includes seven teams ranked inside the top-25 of the most recent rankings release.
No. 24 Duke joins fellow top-25 squads of No. 5 Texas, No. 10 UCLA, No. 11 Arizona, No. 14 Florida, No. 15 Vanderbilt and No. 19 Pepperdine. San Diego State, USC, UNLV, California, San Jose State, Chattanooga and Washington round out the field.
This year's marks the 46th iteration of the Southwestern Invitational, having begun in 1976 at North Ranch Country Club, and Duke is making its first appearance in the event. Sherwood Country Club serves as the host course this season and will play to a par of 71 and a distance of 7,076 yards.
The Blue Devils start a lineup of
Bryan Kim,
Ethan Evans,
Luke Sample,
Kelly Chinn and
Ollie Mukherjee. Tee times for the first round begin at 12:20 p.m., ET, and Duke's lineup will start their rounds off of hole No. 10, playing alongside the lineups of USC and Chattanooga. Mukherjee, a freshman, is slated to make his first start as a Blue Devil.
No. 24 Duke picked up three top-three finishes during the fall schedule, including a sweep of the team and individual titles at the prestigious Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate in October. In In a field that include seven top-25 teams, Duke claimed the team title at 28-under, 836, and Evans earned his first collegiate victory with a 9-under, 207, effort.
