COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Swimming, the National Governing Body of swimming in the United States, announced its 2024-25 U.S. National Team presented by Toyota. Duke junior swimmer
Kaelyn Gridley is one of 106 swimmers nationwide, based on results from the Paris Olympic Games 2024 and times from January 1, 2024, through August 24, 2024.
"As we start the LA 2028 quad, we are thrilled to announce a roster of athletes who genuinely embody the best aspects of our sport," said USA Swimming Interim Chief of Executive Officer Shana Ferguson. "This team features a strong mix of veteran presence and emerging talent certain to showcase their USA Swimming club teams and universities at the highest levels of international competition."
The selection criteria are based on the fastest six athletes in each individual Olympic Event and only one time will be used per athlete. Athletes who competed at the 2024 Olympic Games will automatically be selected to the 2024-25 National Team, regardless of whether their fastest time was slower than the sixth-place athlete.
Gridley, a native of Wilmette, Illinois, is a three-time first-team All-American in the 200 Breaststroke (2023 & 2024) and the 400 Medley Relay (2024), as well as a second-team All-American in the 200 Medley Relay (2024). During the 2023-24 campaign, Gridley shattered the 200 Breaststroke record at Duke, clocking a time of 2:04.94, while also producing a school-record swim in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 58.74.
During her rookie season with Duke, Gridley earned qualification into the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials and finished fifth in the 100 Breaststroke, touching with a time of 1:06.67. She added a second fifth-place finish in the 200 Breaststroke to post a time of 2:25.82, at Olympic Trials. While in her freshman campaign, Gridley appeared at the Toyota U.S. Open Championships, clocking a time of 1:08.46 in the 100 Breaststroke, finishing behind Ireland's Mona McSharry, to become the 18 and under U.S. Champion in the event.
