DURHAM – The awards continue to roll in for incoming Blue Devil
Nikolas Menendez as the standout defenseman was named the USA Lacrosse High School Boys' National Player of the Year for the 2024 season as announced by USA Lacrosse Magazine on Wednesday.
Menendez was the USA Lacrosse Midwest Player of the Year after his stellar season with Culver Academy (Ind.) The finalists were Timothy Shannehan (Fairfield Prep [Conn.]), Brendan Millon (McDonogh [Md.]), Caden Harshbarger (Lake Mary [Fla.]) and Andrew Cook (Torrey Pines [Calif.]).
USA Lacrosse Magazine staff and writers select the regional and national players of the year with input from coaches in their respective regions of coverage. High school honors will continue in the coming weeks with the official release of the USA Lacrosse All-American and All-Academic teams as well as the Jackie Pitts and Bob Scott award winners.

Kenny Brower and
Tyler Carpenter. He is ranked No. 2 in Inside Lacrosse's Class of 2024 rankings after helping the Eagles to a No. 4 national rankings. Menendez finished his final season with 33 caused turnovers and 48 ground balls.
Culver, playing one of the toughest schedules in the country, finished this season with a 15-3 overall record. Two of the Eagles' losses came against national powerhouses St. Anthony's (9-8) and Malvern Prep (11-6).
