BETHEL, Ohio – The 16th-ranked Duke rowing team is set to make its fifth-straight appearance in the NCAA Rowing Championships beginning Friday at East Fork State Park in Bethel, Ohio.
Duke will race three boats throughout the weekend and enters the championship as the No. 10-seed in the Varsity Four, No. 15-seed in the Second Varsity Eight and No. 16-seed in the Varsity Eight.
Eleven conferences were awarded automatic qualifications in SMU, Rhode Island, Syracuse, Texas, Michigan, Northeastern, Princeton, Jacksonville, Stanford, Boston U. and Gonzaga. Duke earned one of 11 at-large selections alongside Brown, California, Indiana, Ohio State, Penn, Rutgers, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington and Yale to round of the 22-team field.
The Blue Devils are coming off a bronze-medal performance at the 2024 ACC Championships on Lake Wheeler in Raleigh, N.C., last weekend. Duke tallied 78 team points, finishing behind champion No. 10 Syracuse and No. 16 Virginia in second. The Blue Devils placed all five boats into the grand final races with the Varsity Four highlighting the day after claiming a gold medal. The Second Varsity Four collected a silver medal, while the Second Varsity Eight and Third Varsity Eight each took home bronze.
