DURHAM – The Duke men's soccer team is starting the 2024 summer on a foreign tour, traveling to Australia until the end of May. The Blue Devils arrived on Thursday, May 16 and will return to Durham on May 28, spending nearly two weeks abroad. Â
The trip includes several friendly matches with local clubs alongside sightseeing and team bonding experiences. Duke is currently scheduled to play three friendlies – taking on Sydney Olympic FC, Western Syndey Wanderers and Central Coast Mariners FC – and will also have opportunities to train as a team at local soccer centers.
Outside of the soccer activities of team training and friendlies, Duke is slated to explore Sydney and surrounding area through various outings as a team, including a playoff soccer match between Central Coast Mariners FC and Sydney FC.
The Blue Devils are coming off an 11-4-3 campaign in 2023 that included a 10-1-1 record inside the friendly confines of Koskinen Stadium. The Blue Devils were ranked inside the top-25 for the entirety of the season and were a top-10 team in six weeks, including each of the last four weeks of the regular season.
Duke advanced to the second round in both the ACC Tournament and NCAA Tournament and highlighted its regular season with a top-10 victory over No. 7 Syracuse, 5-3, in late September. The Blue Devils had six different players earn All-ACC recognition, three All-South Region honorees and a Second Team All-American.
