SOUTH BEND, Ind. - No. 23 Duke fell to No. 6 Notre Dame, 19-7, Saturday afternoon at Arlotta Stadium in South Bend, Ind.
The No. 5 scoring offense in the nation was on full display as the Fighting Irish outshot Duke, 39-17, and put 25 shots on cage.
Five different Irish tallied hat tricks and were led by Kasey Choma and Arden Tierney with six points each.
Katie DeSimone tallied three of Duke's seven goals while Caroline DeBellis added a goal and two assists.
How it Happened
- Duke opened the scoring as Bella Goodwin found DeBellis at 10:59 in the first quarter before Notre Dame went on its first series of runs.
- The Irish led 6-2 after the first 15 minutes and added five more goals to lead 11-3 after the first half.
- Duke was held scoreless for 22 minutes before DeSimone ended the drought at 6:12 in the third quarter. Carly Bernstein found the back of the cage from a nice pass from DeBellis three minutes later, but the deficit was still steep at 10 goals.
- Duke limited Notre Dame to just three goals in the final quarter as DeSimone and Olivia Carner added tallies, but the deficit proved to be too much as time expired.

- Duke moves to 9-6 overall and 3-4 in conference play. It is now 2-6 against ranked opponents this spring.
- Notre Dame has won 10 of the last 12 games against Duke.
- The all-time series evens at 13-13.
- This was the fifth time this spring Duke has been held to fewer than 10 goals — Duke is 1-4 in those games.
- DeSimone was held without a shot until 13:07 in the second quarter.
- DeSimone tallied her 33rd-career hat trick with her three goals.
- DeSimone now owns 265 career points and 190 career goals to rank fourth and third, respectively, in program history.
- Duke tallied just two draw controls in the second half as Notre Dame won the battle in the circle, 20-9.
- Kennedy Everson got the start in the cage and collected four saves in 35 minutes.
- Olivia Carner and Kay Conway each grabbed two ground balls and a caused turnover.

- Duke will close out its regular-season home slate with Louisville Friday, April 12. Duke's seniors will be celebrated following the contest.
