Following the 2023 professional season, Loperfido was tabbed as the Houston Astros Minor League Player of the Year and was invited to his first major league camp this spring. During his time at spring training, he posted a .382 average at the plate (13-for-34) in Grapefruit League play and impressed the Astros staff with his demeanor.
The No. 6 prospect in the Astros system by MLB Pipeline collected his 13th home run of the season on Sunday for the Sugar Land Space Cowboys and leads the minors in that category. He has scored 31 runs, collected 29 hits and driven in 27 RBI to begin the 2024 season.
The Astros are back in action against the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday at 7:10 CT / 8:10 ET at Minute Maid Park.
