RALEIGH, N.C. – The 16th-ranked Blue Devils swept all six races of the morning session to highlight the opening day of the Lake Wheeler Invitational.
The Blue Devils sit second in the team standings with 62 points heading into the second day of competition, following closely behind No. 5 Tennessee with 66.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Third Varsity Eight opened the day in strong fashion, racing to a first-place time of 7:28.175.
The Fourth Varsity Eight powered past their competition, finishing almost two full boat lengths ahead of the second-place crew from Clemson, to clock a time of 7:22.376.
The Second Varsity Four, Varsity Four and Second Varsity Eight followed suit with three additional top times.
It came down a photo finish in the Varsity Eight race with Duke narrowly edging Alabama to complete the morning session sweep.
The 3V8, 2V4, 1V4 and 2V8 carried their momentum into the afternoon session, improving their times to register four more first-place finishes.
