GREENSBORO, N.C. – A 10-run second inning led No. 3 Duke to a 16-3 run-rule victory over UNC Greensboro on Wednesday at UNCG Softball Stadium.

Gisele Tapia led the offense, batting 3-for-4 with two RBI on the night. The trio of Blue Devils finished 2-for-3 at the plate in senior

Ana Gold and freshman
Amiah Burgess. They also combined to drive in eight of Duke's 16 runs.
Sophomore
Sophie Garner-MacKinnon earned the start and the win after tossing all five innings. The West Hartford, Conn., native allowed three runs off five hits while recording two strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Senior Kelly Torres opened the game with a lead-off home run over the left field wall to quickly put Duke in front.
- UNC Greensboro responded in the bottom half after connecting on a pair of doubles and a single to pull ahead, 2-1.
- The Blue Devils' offense erupted in the top of the second as they posted 10 runs off seven hits and an error to take an 11-2 edge. The multi-run inning was highlighted by Frelick's two-RBI double off the right field wall.
- Frelick carried the momentum into the following frame, sending a two-RBI single into center field before moving up on a wild pitch. She came home during the ensuing at bat after Tapia ripped a double to the right center field wall to extend Duke's advantage to 14-2.
- Burgess sent a two-run shot out of right field in the top of the fifth to round out Duke's 16 runs. Her long ball also brought in Gold, who led off the frame with a double to left center field.
- The Spartans added one final run in the bottom of the fifth with a solo home run off the bat of Maycin Brown.
NOTES
- Senior Claire Davidson recorded her 57th RBI of the season to set the single-season program record after she drew a bases-loaded walk during the second inning.
- The Blue Devils earned their 11th run-rule victory of the season and have outscored their opponents, 139-12, in those games.
- Burgess and Torres blasted their second and fourth home run of the season, respectively.
- Garner-MacKinnon tossed the second complete game of her career and improves to 3-0 in the circle.
