How it Happened
- Duke opened the scoring 1:15 into the game on a Johnston to Sloat combination. O'Neill and Danenza made it 3-0 with a pair of unassisted tallies over the next five minutes and the Blue Devil defense continued to suffocate the Pioneers for a 3-0 lead at the first break.
- Sloat returned the favor to Johnston early in the second quarter as he found the rookie midfielder for his 12th goal of the season to put Duke ahead 4-0.

- The Pioneers brought it back within one with just under two minutes remaining in the quarter, leaving the Blue Devils clinging to the 5-4 lead with 15 minutes to play.
- Josh Zawada found Dyson Williams on the crease early in the fourth stanza and Sloat rifled home his second of the game to put Duke back in front, 7-4, with 8:09 remaining.
- The high scoring pace continued as Denver responded with two unanswered to make it a one-goal game with 6:27 remaining in the period.
- Duke locked in defensively down the stretch and shined on the offensive end, outscoring the Pioneers 4-1 in the final 4:14. O'Neill had two of the four goals, while Williams finished a man-up goal with 90 seconds left to ice the victory. O'Neill capped the 4-1 run with his third of the afternoon.
