OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – No. 13 Duke rowing concluded action on the second day of the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational, held on Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tenn., on Sunday.
The Blue Devils swept crews from Navy, Notre Dame and Wisconsin in all five races to wrap up action in the two-day invitational. As a team, Duke won 13 of 15 races on the weekend and claimed close second-place finishes in the other two races.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Duke's Third Varsity Eight opened the second day of racing with a first-place time of 6:52.083.
- The Varsity Eight followed suit, stroking its way to another first-place finish, clocking a time of 6:43.095.
- In the Varsity Four race, the Blue Devils cruised to victory, posting the winning time of 7:22.733, nearly eight seconds ahead of the second-place boat from Notre Dame.
- Duke's Second Varsity Eight continued to show their strength, powering past their three opponents to finish in 6:37.028.
- The Second Varsity Four lineup of coxswain Mia Khamish, Sophia Greco, Morven Thomson and Eliza Straayer collected their third first-place finish in as many races to round out the competition for Duke.
