BOSTON, Mass. – Duke track and field saw four more athletes advance to Championship Saturday at the ACC Indoor Championships as
Amina Maatoug,
Ezra Mellinger,
Julia Jackson and
Lauren Tolbert each punched their tickets to the finals in their respective events via strong performances in the preliminary round.
In addition, the Blue Devils registered two more top-five program marks – their 26th and 27th of the 2024 indoor campaign – in the men's 800m and women's 60m.
At the conclusion of day two, the Duke women sit in sixth place with 20 points while the men are slotted eighth with 18 points.
TOP PERFORMANCES
- Junior Amina Maatoug earned the automatic qualifier to the finals with a commanding performance in the prelims of the women's mile run.
- Maatoug posted the fastest time in her heat, and the 29-member competition field, as she clocked a swift time of 4:39.38.
- The women's 200m saw two Blue Devils in sophomores Julia Jackson and Lauren Tolbert garner spots in Saturday's final after turning in the top time in their respective heat.
- Jackson dashed in 53.72 seconds to lead the charge in Heat 5 while Tolbert slotted herself atop the field in Heat 4 behind a time of 54.07 seconds.
- After punching his ticket to the final of the 200m yesterday, graduate student Ezra Mellinger earned a bid to his second event final of the weekend – this time for the men's 60m.
- Mellinger sprinted in 6.74 seconds to post the sixth-fastest time of the prelims, matching his No. 2 all-time program mark in the process.
- Classmate Ryan Wilson turned in a solid performance in the men's 800m and came up just shy of a spot in the finals, delivering a seasons-best time of 1:49.97 to insert himself into the No. 5 spot in program lore.
- Tina Martin had her strongest outing of the year in the women's 60m on Friday as the graduate student etched her name in the Duke record books for the second time this season.
- Martin dashed a season best of 7.46 during the preliminary – a mark checking in at No. 4 all-time at Duke.

The men's triple jump opens the final day of competition at 11 a.m., with the women's 4x400m relay (4 p.m.) capping the weekend of competitive action. The ACC Indoor Championships awards ceremony is slated to follow immediately after.
