SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Duke fencing team closed out the first day of the ACC Championship with the individual portion at Castellan Family Fencing Center in South Bend, Ind.

Senior captain foilist Christina Ferrari captured a silver medal and All-ACC accolades while freshman saberist Samir Travers collected bronze.

How it Happened

Ferrari finished pool play with 10 wins to earn the No. 3 seed in the semifinal/final bracket. She earned a 15-11 victory over Boston College's Cameron Cho to advance to the final. Ferrari went against Notre Dame's Josephine Conway but came up short, 15-9.
This marks Ferrari's second silver medal at the ACC Championship.
Travers totaled 10 victories during pool play to earn the No. 2 seed in the semifinal/final bracket. He faced Grant Dodrill of Notre Dame in the semifinal and fell (15-10). He went on to fence Inigo Rivera of Boston College in the battle for third place and secured the 15-11 victory to bring home bronze.
Duke finished the day with four top-five finishes and 16 in the top 10.

The team competition will be held Sunday, with the fourth-seeded men kicking off at 8 a.m. and the top-seeded women opening at 12:15 p.m. Both events will be broadcast on ACCNX.
