DURHAM, N.C. –The Duke women's soccer tandem of
Maggie Graham and
Katie Groff received TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week recognition Tuesday, following their efforts this past weekend in the NCAA Tournament.
Graham was selected to the National Team of the Week, while Groff earned honorable mention accolades as they helped lead top-seeded Duke to wins against 17th-ranked Texas Tech (3-0) and 16th-ranked Michigan State (2-0).
A native of Atlanta, Ga., Graham continued her impressive offensive season as a graduate student with a pair of goals in a 3-0 victory in the second round versus the Red Raiders. It marked her fifth career multi-goal performance and third of the season. Graham also notched her eighth career game-winning goal, which is now tied for 17th on Duke's all-time charts.
The 2024 ACC Midfielder of the Year became the sixth Blue Devil to register four or more goals in a NCAA Tournament as she also notched two goals in the NCAA First Round against Howard. Graham also became the first Blue Devil to collect two goals in each of the first two matches of a NCAA Tournament. Graham now owns a team-high 14 goals to go along with five assists and a team-best 33 points.
Groff, who hails from Raleigh, N.C., helped guide Duke to a couple of shutouts over the weekend, while playing the entire 90 minutes in both contests. The Blue Devils haven't conceded a goal over the first three matches to open the NCAA Tournament for just the third time in program lore.
Over her five seasons with Duke, Groff has helped the Blue Devils collect an impressive 51 shutouts. Duke's defense limited both Texas Tech and Michigan State to only eight combined shots over 180 minutes over the weekend.
Next up for the Blue Devils (17-2-1) will be 12th-ranked Virginia Tech on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 6 p.m., for a spot in the NCAA College Cup. The match will be aired live on ESPN+.
