DURHAM, N.C. – Duke women's basketball rookie
Toby Fournier has been tapped the ACC's Freshman of the Week following a career performance against Belmont, the league announced Monday afternoon.
In the 79-47 dub over the Bruins this past Thursday, Fournier netted career highs in points (25) and blocks (3) while also pulling down six rebounds.
The Toronto, Ont., Canada, product has gotten her collegiate career off to a rapid start, putting the nation on notice she's a force to be reckoned with. Fournier has maximized her efficiency, reaching double figures in five of her first six collegiate games. She paces the Duke offensive efforts with 14.5 points while ranking third on the glass with 5.3 rebounds. On the defensive end, she is averaging a team-best 1.33 rejections along with 1.0 steals.
No. 14 Duke is competing at the Ball Dawgs Classic this week, opening tournament action against No. 10 Kansas State Monday, Nov. 25 at 3 p.m. ET. The Blue Devils will face either No. 9 Oklahoma or DePaul Wednesday, Nov. 27 in the second game of the Ball Dawgs Classic.
