DURHAM, N.C. – Backed by three first-half goals, No. 5 Duke men's soccer (9-2-4) defeated Longwood (4-9-2), 4-1, on Tuesday evening at Koskinen Stadium.
In the 17th minute, junior
Drew Kerr opened the tally for the Blue Devils, receiving a pass from
Luke Thomas and finishing it into the bottom left corner of the net for a 1-0 advantage. Thomas then played a ball through the front of the goal, as
Adam Luckhurst notched his 10th tally of the season to double the lead.
Graduate
Colton Pleasants added to the Duke tally in the first half, receiving a pass from
Ulfur Bjornsson and Kerr to increase the Blue Devils lead to 3-0. At the half, Duke outshot the Lancers 8-0 and 3-0 on frame, while also holding all five corners attempted.
With just over five minutes left to play in the second half,
Caleb Donaldson notched his third goal of the campaign, when
Hudson Hazlewood collected an assist to push the lead to 4-0. In the final minute of action, Longwood was awarded a penalty kick and slotted home their only goal of the evening, ending Duke's scoreless streak of 498:23 dating back to October 8 against Elon.

- Graduate Colton Pleasants notched the third goal of the evening for the Blue Devils, as Ulfur Bjornsson and Kerr set up the attack, 3-0.
- At the half, Duke outshot the Lancers 8-0 and 3-0 on frame, while also recording all five corners.
- With over five minutes left in the second half, Caleb Donaldson notched his third goal of the campaign, when Hudson Hazlewood collected an assist, 4-0.
- Longwood registered a penalty kick goal in the final 30 seconds to cut into the lead, 4-1.
NOTES
- Junior Drew Kerr tallied his fifth goal of the season and recorded his eighth assist of the season.
- Graduate Adam Luckhurst notched his 10th goal of the season, marking the second consecutive season that Duke had two players with 10-plus goals. He joins Ulfur Bjornsson at the top of the team with Bjornsson tallying 11.
- Graduate Colton Pleasants scored his third goal of the season. He is one of nine players on the team to score two-plus goals this season.
- Luke Thomas recorded two assists in Tuesday's win, the most in a single game that he has recorded.
- Senior Grant Farley earned his first minutes during his career at Duke, playing the final 11 minutes of the match.
- Senior Sebastian Docters earned his first minutes this season, registering one shot and one on goal.
- The Blue Devils have now outscored opponents 37-10 in the second half this season.
- Duke's unbeaten streak extends to nine straight matches following Tuesday's win and caps off a 5-0-2 month of October.
