PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Duke men's fencing team took its turn kicking off the 2024-25 slate Sunday at the Temple Open in Philadelphia, Pa.
Duke collected four top-10 performances and eight top-20 finishes.
NOTABLES
The Blue Devil saber group was led by graduate Joshua Lo, who had Duke's highest finish of the day by claiming sixth. He advanced to the round of eight before falling to Penn State's Kamar Skeete, 15-12.
Junior Justin Morrillfinished tied for ninth in sabre. Morrill progressed to the round of 16 and was tied for second in seeding after a 4-1 showing in pool competition.
The epee group was led by senior Allen Marakov, who finished sixth, and sophomore Kozmo Rhyu, who was just behind in seventh. Marakov and Rhyu each fell in the round of eight.
Sophomore foilist Dayaal Singh paced the men's squad Sunday with a 14th-place finish. He went 3-1 in pool competition to earn the No. 23 seed before falling in the round of 16.
