DURHAM, N.C. β The Duke field hockey team and the Duke Cancer Institute are teaming up to raise awareness about cancer. Join the Blue Devils in raising money to support the Duke Cancer Institute with proceeds donated leading up to the Oct. 25 game against Boston College going directly to DCI.

Like Duke field hockey, the Duke Cancer Institute is one of the premier cancer centers in the U.S. and the No. 1 cancer center in North Carolina, according toΒ U.S. News & World Report. As anΒ NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center, the Duke Cancer Institute hasΒ a level of cancer expertise only found in the top 4% of U.S. centers.Β

Duke field hockey, ranked 11th nationally, is 8-4 overall and 4-1 in the ACC. Riding a four-game win streak, the Blue Devils are tied for third in the conference standings and have allowed just one goal in conference play this season. Duke hasn't given up a goal in 269:43 and leads the nation with a 0.39 goals against average.
Offensively, Duke has found a consistent scoring touch recently with nine goals in the past three games.
Alaina McVeigh has a team-high eight goals while four other Blue Devils have two tallies.
The Blue Devils return to the field Oct. 18 at Louisville at 3 p.m. Duke is back home for the final three games of the regular season, hosting VCU (Oct. 20), Boston College (Oct. 25) and North Carolina (Nov. 1).
