DURHAM – The Duke women's lacrosse team will begin the season ranked No. 24 in the country, as announced in the preseason ILWomen/IWLCA Division I Poll.
Reigning national champion Northwestern earned 20 first-place votes, while No. 3 North Carolina received one.
The national runners-up, Boston College, enters the 2024 season in the second slot, while Denver and Syracuse round out the top five in the No. 4 and No. 5 positions, respectfully.
The ACC leads the way for most teams in the Top 25, with seven teams, while the Big Ten follows with five.
Duke is slated to face eight ranked opponents this season, including three of the top-five teams. The Blue Devils will go up against No. 2 Boston College, No. 3 North Carolina, No. 5 Syracuse, No. 7 Notre Dame, No. 14 Johns Hopkins, No. 16 Virginia, No. 23 Clemson and No. 25 Navy.
Duke opens its season Friday, Feb. 9 against No. 25 Navy at 4 p.m., in Annapolis, Md. Season tickets and single game tickets are available for purchase
