WASHINGTON, D.C. – The fourth-ranked Duke men's soccer team wrapped up preseason play on Friday afternoon, playing to a 2-2 draw against No. 17 Georgetown at Shaw Field.
Ulfur Bjornsson tallied his second goal in as many preseason matches and was joined on the scoresheet by
Kenan Hot, who leveled the score in the last minute of regulation.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The home squad got on the scoreboard first, heading home the afternoon's opening goal in the 10th minute.
- Ulfur Bjornsson, coming off a goal against UNC Wilmington on Wednesday night, knotted the score at 1-1 in the 54th minute. The striker from Hafnafjörður, Iceland was set up by senior midfielder Nick Pariano, who now has three assists spanning the last two exhibition matches.
- The Hoyas retook the lead, 2-1, with a goal in the 84th minute.
- Duke used late heroics from sophomore Kenan Hot to secure the draw, as the midfielder leveled the match at 2-2 with 27 seconds remaining.
- Following the end of regulation, the two teams played an additional 45 minutes.
UP NEXT
- With its three preseason exhibition matches now complete, Duke turns its attention to the 2023 regular season. The season opener is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 25 against Jacksonville. Kickoff at Koskinen Stadium is at 7:30 p.m.
