DURHAM, N.C. – A goal in each half helped propel Duke men's soccer to a 2-0 victory over Queens on Tuesday night at Freeman Field at Koskinen Stadium. The Blue Devils (3-4) received goals from a pair of freshmen, Jack Ottley and Ethan Congleton, while graduate Colin Gallagher made two saves in goal for Duke's first shutout of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The two teams settled into the run of play through the first 15 minutes, with Queens forcing the first save by Colin Gallagher with a shot from outside the box in the 13th minute.
Thomas Vold had an open look at the 18-yard line in the 20th minute, but his strong strike was blocked away by a Queens defender.
Jack Ottley opened the scoring with his third goal of the season, getting his right foot on a cross from Ethan Congleton. Ottley increased his season point total to 10 with the goal, becoming the first Blue Devil with double-digit points this season.
Jonah Wolf nearly doubled the margin, but his attempt in the 35th minute bounced off the right post. Duke remained in the lead, 1-0, after 45 minutes.
The Blue Devils had a pair of near misses once play began to level out in the second half, with Nikolai Bull Jorgensen ringing the crossbar on a header in the 58th minute and Emmanuel Frimpong being denied by a diving stop in the 65th.
Congleton curled in a left-footed shot in the 79th minute, his second goal of the season, giving Duke a 2-0 lead. The second goal of the night was assisted by Jamie Kabuusu, who made his 2026 debut on Tuesday night, and Ari Racaj.
A late save by Gallagher gave the graduate his second stop of the night and capped off the shutout, Duke's first of the year.

NOTES

As a team, Duke logged six shots on goal, while limiting the visitors to just two.
The Blue Devils also won the corner kick battle, earning eight compared to just one for Queens.
Jack Ottley netted a goal for the second consecutive game and now has three goals this season. Accompanied by his four helpers, Ottley leads the team with 10 total points.
Ethan Congleton had an assist and a goal en route to three points on Tuesday night. The freshman now has six points for the season.
Jamie Kabuusu made his 2026 debut after missing the first six matches due to injury. The junior promptly picked up his first point of the season with an assist on Duke's second goal.
Ari Racaj was also credited with an assist on the second goal, his first helper of the year.
