DURHAM – Duke Athletics finished the 2022-23 campaign ranked 16th in the Learfield IMG Directors' Cup Standings announced Wednesday by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in the NCAA Championships, and a total of 20 Duke teams were in position to earn points – tying the most in a single season in school history (2010-11).
Highlighted by the 90 points achieved by men's lacrosse for reaching the national championship game in May, Duke secured 977.80 total points to finish third among ACC schools – its best overall and ACC finish since 2018-19 when placing ninth and third, respectively. The Blue Devils have finished in the top 30 all but twice in the 29 years since the Directors' Cup standings were first presented in 1993-94.
The other Blue Devil teams scoring points included men's soccer (73), women's soccer (73), baseball (64), softball (64), men's tennis (64), fencing (63), women's golf (55.5), women's swimming & diving (53), men's golf (52), men's basketball (50), women's basketball (50), women's tennis (50), rowing (48), football (45), women's track & field (28.5), women's indoor track & field (27.8), men's cross country (27), women's cross country (26) and wrestling (16).

Florida State (17th), NC State (19th), Notre Dame (20th), Louisville (32nd), Wake Forest (42nd), Syracuse (45th) and Miami (49th) followed to give the ACC 10 institutions among the top 50. It marked the 21st consecutive year that four or more ACC schools placed among the top 30 in the final rankings.
The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Nineteen total teams can earn points for the final standings, four of which must be baseball, men's basketball, women's basketball and volleyball.
