Duke Announces 2023 Field Hockey Schedule

DURHAM β Duke field hockey head coach Pam Bustin is excited to announce the 2023 Blue Devil field hockey schedule. The regular season slate features 17 games with eight coming against 2022 NCAA Tournament teams.
The Blue Devils host nine home games at Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium, including a matchup against UConn for the first time since the 2013 NCAA Championship game. Duke is set to welcome Syracuse, Wake Forest and Louisville for ACC regular season contests.
Two Warm-Ups and a Date with the Hoosiers in August
The Blue Devils will travel to VCU and North Carolina for a pair of scrimmages, Aug. 17 and 20, respectively. Duke officially opens the 2023 campaign Aug. 25 against Indiana. It's the fourth meeting between the ACC and Big Ten foes and the first since a 3-2 setback for the Blue Devils in 2014.
Five Home Games Highlight September
After hitting the road to College Park, Md., on Labor Day weekend for matchups against 2022 NCAA semifinalists Maryland and Northwestern for the ACC/Big Ten Cup, Duke returns to Durham for a four-game homestand.
Duke hosts non-conference foes Longwood and Liberty, Sept. 8 and 10, respectively before kicking off ACC play the following Friday against Syracuse at 6 p.m. The Blue Devils look to end a six-game losing streak against the Orange before trying to extend their eight-game win streak versus Old Dominion Sunday, Sept. 17.
A weekend swing to the Northeast for games at Boston College and Harvard mark the midway point of the campaign, while a home contest against Wake Forest Sept. 29 caps the month of September.
Duke to Meet UVA Twice in October
The Blue Devils travel to William & Mary to open the month of October. Duke makes a return trip to the Old Dominion state the following weekend for the first of two regular-season matches against Virginia and a non-conference battle at James Madison.
Louisville arrives in the Bull City to cap Duke's regular season ACC home slate Oct. 13, while Virginia comes to Williams Field for a non-conference tussle between the conference opponents. Duke closes the home schedule with a rematch of the 2013 NCAA Championship game against UConn. The Blue Devils are 3-1 all-time against the Huskies with the one loss coming in the title game 10 years ago.
Duke travels down Tobacco Road for the regular season finale at North Carolina, Oct. 27. The Blue Devils are looking for their first win over the Tar Heels since 2017.
ACC Tournament in Charlottesville
The 2023 ACC Tournament takes place in Charlottesville Oct. 31-Nov. 3. The opening round and semifinals are Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, respectively. The title game is Nov. 3 at Virginia's turf field.
