DURHAM – Duke women's lacrosse graduate student
Maddie Jenner was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) 2023 Academic All-District Women's At-Large team, the organization announced Tuesday.
The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 22.
Jenner earns the honor for the first time in her career.
Jenner returned to the circle in 2023 for her final year of eligibility as arguably the best in the sport at the draw.
In 18 games, Jenner grabbed 187 draws, 29 goals and nine assists for 38 points to rank third on the team. She also owns nine ground balls and six caused turnovers, proving she's more than just a draw control specialist.
Over the course of her career, she amassed 791 total draws and as the nation's NCAA active career leader in draw controls per game (9.56) and total draw controls (791). She broke the NCAA Division I all-time draw control record in Duke's win over Gardner-Webb (2/19) in addition to the NCAA single-season draw control record last spring (233). She reached the 100 point and 100-goal milestones this season, adding to her impressive resume.
