CHARLOTTE - Duke fell to fourth-ranked Boston College, 15-9, in ACC Tournament quarterfinal action Wednesday at American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte.
The Blue Devils were led by junior Katie DeSimone with three points by way of a goal and two dimes, all of which were in the fourth quarter. Graduate student Maddie Jenner finished her Blue Devil career with a goal and two assists today while Caroline DeBellis and Eva Greco added two goals each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Boston College opened the scoring early, including a goal one minute in, and took a quick 2-0 lead.
- Duke got on the board just before the eight-minute media as Maddie McCorkle found a wide open Katie Keller steps outside of the circle.
- Boston College extended its lead (4-1) by way of goals 30 seconds apart before Debellis caught a nice feed from Carly Bernstein with four minutes left.
- Boston College added to its lead (9-4) with four second-quarter goals.
- Duke turned defense into offense as Kay Conway caused the turnover, picked up the ground ball and booked it down the field. McCorkle tallied her second point today, this time from a Keller pass as she finished top shelf.
- Down by five (9-4) at the half, both teams offenses were quiet for nearly 10 minutes before Jenner broke free from her defender and found the back of the cage (9-5). The Eagles added three more goals to end the quarter.
- Boston College tallied two quickly before Greco found one of her own. Down by nine (15-6), Duke quickly cut it to six (15-9) with three goals just 70 seconds apart as DeSimone had a hand in all three with a goal and two dimes.
- Duke got a couple chances to cut the deficit with six minutes left, but couldn't find the answer.

- Duke finishes its season 8-10 overall.
- Duke moves to 13-25 all-time in ACC Tournament games and 0-2 in quarterfinal games.
- The all-time series with Boston College moves to 15-7 in favor of Duke.

- Graduate goalie Sophia LeRose got the start in the cage and finished with four saves.
- Veronica Hineman once again filled the stat sheet with an assist, three draw controls, two ground balls and two caused turnovers while Kay Conway led the team with three ground balls.
- Cubby Biscardi finishes the year with 37 caused turnovers with her one today — she ranks fifth in program history.
- With her three points today, DeSimone ranks 14th in program history with 187 career points.
- Boston College was led by Jenn Medjid with four goals.
