Duke’s V4, 3V4 Wins Highlight Day Two of ACC-Big Ten Double Dual

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – No. 12 Duke rowing battled strong winds and rain while facing No. 14 Ohio State in the second day of the ACC-Big Ten Double Dual in Charlottesville, Va. on Saturday.

The Blue Devils went head-to-head with the Buckeyes in six races and collected first-place finishes in the Varsity Four and Third Varsity Four races, clocking times of 7:39.6 and 8:31.9, respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Third Varsity Four boat started the day off strong, posting a top time of 8:31.9, to narrowly edge the Buckeyes by a margin of 1.2 seconds.
The 3V4 crew of coxswain Ava Liebmann, Ashley Whipple, Erin Heyeck, Morven Thomson and Charlotte Sendek swept both races of the weekend after defeating the crew from Michigan by nearly 10 seconds on Friday.
Duke notched its second win of the day in the Varsity Four race after stroking past Ohio State to a winning time of 7:39.6.
The Blue Devils finished closely behind the Buckeyes in the 2V4, V8, 2V8 and 3V8 races to wrap up the weekend slate on the Rivanna Reservoir.

UP NEXT
Duke rowing travels to Sarasota, Fla., for two days of racing in the Big Ten Invitational on Friday. The Blue Devils are set to compete in seven events against a field of 16 teams.
