RALEIGH, N.C. – Duke track and field had a solid opening day of competition at the Raleigh Relays on Thursday as the Blue Devils concluded day one with a pair of top-five program marks and three top-five placements, including a win in the women's pole vault.
TOP PERFORMANCES
- Graduate student Dana Baker turned in a personal-best performance in the women's javelin en route to a third-place finish. Baker's throw measured 53.98m (177-1 feet), improving her No. 2 all-time program mark.
- On the men's side, junior Scott Campbell had a strong outing in the javelin that culminated in a runner-up finish. Campbell's third attempt was his best as he launched the javelin 71.51m (234-7 feet).
- Paige Sommers won the women's pole vault invitational after registering the best vault of her career. Sommers tallied a final clearance of 4.15m (13-7.25 feet), currently No. 1 in the ACC.
- In the women's shot put, Lily Lockhart improved her third-farthest throw in program lore via a seasonal-best throw of 14.73m (48-4 feet).

UP NEXT
An action-packed Friday slate opens via the women's discus at 9:45 a.m. On the track, Duke gets going at 12:50 p.m., in the 100m hurdles.
