GREENVILLE, N.C. - The 18th-ranked Duke women's lacrosse team tallied a 13-10 victory over East Carolina Wednesday evening in Greenville, N.C.
Senior Maddie Jenner tallied her 100th-career goal in the victory as she scored two goals on the night and added an assist. She also registered 13 draw controls and two caused turnovers. Lexi Schmalz and Anna Callahan also netted two scores, while Katie DeSimone saw her ninth contest this spring with three or more points with two goals and an assist.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Anna Callahan notched Duke's first goal 43 seconds into the contest to start their offensive attack. East Carolina notched the equalizer (1-1) before the Blue Devils put their foot on the gas and didn't let up. Katie Keller netted the first of five unanswered goals as five different players tallied a score over five and a half minutes of action. The Pirates added two more in under a minute to make it 6-3 in favor of Duke.
- The second quarter was a high-scoring affair as both squads combined for 10 goals, led by DeSimone with two scores. East Carolina's Caroline Kimel tallied three goals as the Blue Devils held a three-goal lead (11-8) at halftime.
- Both teams were held scoreless in the third quarter, allowing the defenses to shine. Maddie Johnston spearheaded the defensive unit with two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
- East Carolina's Ellie Bromley scored in under a minute to pull the Pirates within two (11-9) before Veronica Hineman and Callahan tacked on two more goals to help push Duke to the win.

- Duke moves to 5-5 on the season and 5-1 in non-conference action.
- Head coach Kerstin Kimel secured her 337th career victory and the 333rd at the helm of the Blue Devils.
- The Blue Devils snapped a four-game losing streak with the victory.
- The all-time series moves to 6-0 in favor of the Blue Devils.
- Duke outshot East Carolina, 37-17, and won the draw control battle, 18-7.
- Bromley led the Pirates with four goals while Kimel added three. In cage for East Carolina, Brynn Knight recorded 10 saves.
