DURHAM – The 10th-ranked Duke women's tennis team will officially close the non-conference portion of their 2023 slate on Wednesday, March 22 as the Blue Devils (15-2, 5-1 ACC) host Northwestern (5-8) at 4 p.m. The match is scheduled to be contested at the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center on campus.
The Series with Northwestern
Duke and Northwestern will meet for the 29th time in school history with the Blue Devils leading the series, 25-3. In matches played in Durham, Duke owns an 8-0 ledger. The Blue Devils feature a 12-match winning streak against the Wildcats dating back to 2010.

Scouting Northwestern
Northwestern owns a 5-8 ledger on the season and has dropped four out of its last five matches with the victory coming against No. 72 Indiana (5-2). Claire Pollard is one of the winningest coaches in NCAA tennis compiling a 481-160 ledger over 24 seasons.
In the latest ITA rankings, Christina Hand is ranked No. 109 in singles, while Hand and Justine Leong are No. 42 in doubles.
The Blue Devils will welcome back 2019 Duke graduate Ellyse Hamlin, who is in her second season with the Wildcats as an assistant coach.
What is Next?
The Blue Devils will hit the road for the final two-game weekend slate of the season as Duke travels to Syracuse (Friday, March 24) and Boston College (Sunday, March 26). Friday's match against the Orange is scheduled for a 3 p.m., start on ACC Network Extra. On Sunday, the Blue Devils and Eagles will play at 2 p.m.

Cameron Morra already rank tied for 11th on Duke's most doubles wins in a season with 24. With their next win, the tandem will move into a tie for 10th along with Kelly McCain and Hilary Adams (25).

Duke is currently ranked No. 10 in the ITA poll, which is sponsored by Tennis-Point. The Blue Devils have been listed in the top 10 of the team rankings in five of the seven polls this spring. With the preseason top-10 ranking, the Blue Devils have been tabbed in the top 10 in seven straight years under the direction of head coach
Jamie Ashworth. In his 27th season at the helm, Ashworth has guided Duke to a total of 20 top-10 preseason rankings since 2001.

Duke features a 21-match home winning streak, which ranks as the tied for sixth-longest in school history. With Duke's next win, it will tie for the fifth-longest winning streak in school history.
The Blue Devils are 10-0 at home this season. The longest streaks in school history are – 54 (2017-21), 28 (2008-10), 28 (2011-13), 26 (2002-04), 22 (1990-92) and 21 (2014-15, 2022-23).

Win Streak in ACC Action
Senior
Chloe Beck has a 21-match regular season winning streak against ACC foes dating back to her sophomore campaign. Beck went 13-0 last season becoming just the fourth Blue Devil to go undefeated in ACC play with 10 or more wins. She has opened 2023 ACC play with a 6-0 ledger. Overall, Beck has notched a 30-2 ACC singles mark and 23-4 ACC doubles ledger in her career.
Brianna Shvets boasts an undefeated, 5-0, record in ACC action in 2023.

Doubles Play
After winning the doubles point in the first eight matches, Duke dropped the doubles point in three out of the next five contests. Duke is coming off winning the doubles point in four straight matches. The Blue Devils have dropped the doubles point in both losses this season (Oklahoma and Virginia).
