BLACKSBURG, Va. - Duke swimming and diving completed the first day of the Hokie Invitational in Blacksburg, Va. Competition will continue on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. with prelims, before concluding day two with finals in the evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Freshman Austin Simpson started the first day of finals strong, finishing sixth in 500-freestyle, clocking a time of 4:32.90.
- Fellow freshman Isabella Abrajan posted her best time of the season in the 200-IM for the Blue Devils, finishing with a time of 2:06.46.
- Senior swimmer Kevin Repice shaved two seconds off his qualifying time this morning, posting a 1:54.62 mark in the 200-IM.
- In the women's 50-freestyle, three Blue Devils finished in the top-10 of the finals heat. Sophomore KyAnh Truong (7th; 23.29), freshman Madeline Meredith (9th; 23.53) and senior Alex Bumpas (10th; 23.70) all finished for Duke.
- On the men's side of the 50-freestlye, freshman Sean Rogers and Justin Woo both finished in the top-12.
UP NEXT
- The Blue Devils continue the three-day event at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center on Saturday for the Hokie Invite. The meet will resume at 10 a.m. with prelims and conclude with finals in the evening.
