THE OPENING TIP
- Duke wraps up non-conference action this week, with the Blue Devils set to take on Coppin State on Thursday, Dec. 28 at 7 p.m., live on ACCNX.
- The Blue Devils are currently amidst a four-game home stand, going 2-0 so far with convincing victories over Florida Gulf Coast (82-63) and Toledo (70-45).
- For the third consecutive season the Blue Devils have won at least seven games during the non-league portion of their schedule. Duke went 8-1 in 2021-22 and finished the 2022-23 non-conference slate with 10 wins in 11 games.
- Thursday's meeting marks the first time Duke and Coppin State will square off on the hardwood.
- The Blue Devils are 11-3 all-time against teams from the MEAC and 1-0 this season, having already posted a resounding, 93-45, win over NC Central back on Nov. 26.
- Duke currently ranks third nationally in blocks per game with an average of 7.2 rejections -- No. 1 in the ACC. The Blue Devils also lead the league and rank among the top 30 in the NCAA in three-point percentage, checking in at No. 26 with a 37.4 percent clip.
- Duke is fresh off a 70-45 dub over Toledo this past Wednesday (Dec. 20), where Kennedy Brown and Jadyn Donovan (left) each notched career nights.
- Three Blue Devils average double figures in scoring -- Taina Mair (11.8), Ashlon Jackson (11.5) and Reigan Richardson (11.4).
- Ten of Duke's 11 opponents have been held below their respective season scoring averages.
- Duke has assists on more than 50 percent of their field goals (.506) with 160 dimes on 318 made buckets. Mair leads the team with 3.73 per contest.
LAST TIME OUT
- Senior Kennedy Brown netted a career-high 17 points and freshman Jadyn Donovan registered her first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Blue Devils to a convincing, 70-45, victory over Toledo Wednesday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Donovan also tacked on four blocks, two steals and an assist in an impressive all-around performance.
- Duke shot 50 percent from the field (28-of-56) and 86 percent at the charity stripe (14-of-16) and finished the game with sizeable margins on the glass (42-25) and in the paint (46-28). The Blue Devils outscored the Rockets, 21-6, in the third quarter to break open the game.
- The Blue Devils dominated the Rockets in the paint (46-28) and on the glass (42-25) while also winning the superlative battle in points off turnovers (20-11), second chance points (17-8), fastbreak points (14-6) and bench scoring (18-11).
- On the defensive side of the ball, Duke held Toledo 23 points below its season scoring average (68.6) and well below its splits from the field (31 percent) and from distance (15 percent) – the Rockets entered the game shooting .407 from the floor and .299 from deep.
BLOCK PARTY – EVERYONE'S INVITED
- The Blue Devils' length has proved to be a factor on the defensive end this season as the squad averages 7.2 blocks per game -- No. 3 in the NCAA and first in the ACC.
- Duke has registered five or more blocks in nine games this season, including a pair of ball games with double-digit swats -- Coastal Carolina (12) and NC Central (11) -- as well as a trio of contests with eight rejections -- at Stanford, vs. South Carolina, vs. Florida Gulf Coast.
- Rookie Jadyn Donovan has denied 19 shots and leads three Duke players with double-digit blocks on the year. She is joined by the upperclassmen forward duo of Camilla Emsbo and Kennedy Brown with 16 and 11 blocks, respectively.
- The Blue Devils' blocks per game average (7.2) is the highest by a Duke squad since the 2004-05 season and would check in at No. 3 all-time in the Duke Team Single Season Records for highest blocked shot average if the 2023-24 slate ended today.
HITTIN' FROM DISTANCE
- Duke has knocked down 73 threes this season – an average of 6.6 per game. The Blue Devils are cashing in their triples at a .374 percent clip and have knocked down at least five threes in eight games, including six with seven or more.
- Five Blue Devils have cashed in double-digit trifectas -- Ashlon Jackson (19), Reigan Richardson (13), Emma Koabel (12), Oluchi Okananwa (11), Taina Mair (11).
- Earlier this season Duke set a single-game record for most threes in a game, knocking down 14 against Coastal Carolina.
- If the 2023-24 campaign ended today, Duke's 6.6 triples per game would rank second on the Duke single season charts for average three-pointers made. Duke averaged 7.25 in 2020-21, but only played four games.
SUPERLATIVE SPOTLIGHT
- Duke's reserves are providing a spark for the Blue Devils, boasting an average of 24.2 points per game. The Blue Devils have scored more bench points than their foes in nine games, totaling 266 points while opponents have put up just 132.

- Duke has had strong production on the offensive glass this season, producing 12.9 offensive rebounds per game.
- The Blue Devils have parlayed those extra possessions into 139 second-chance points, 21 points better than their opponents (118). Duke has held the advantage in six games, including sizeable margins against Richmond (18-5) and Coastal Carolina (20-2).
- On the fastbreak, the Blue Devils hold a 143-61 edge and have limited 10 opponents to fewer than eight points in transition. The lone team to eclipse 10 points was South Carolina with the Gamecocks tallying 12.
