GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Duke women's 400 Medley Relay team formed by
Ali Pfaff,
Kaelyn Gridley,
Aleyna Ozkan and
Sarah Foley broke the school record for the event on Thursday evening at the Greensboro Aquatic Center, setting a new time of 3:31.33.
The Blue Devils' women sit in third place after the first day of competition trailing NC State and Arizona State, collecting 411 points, while the men tallied 228 points after Thursday's events.
NOTEABLES
- Duke's 200 Freestyle Relay team of Tatum Wall, KyAnh Truong, Aleyna Ozkan and Ali Pfaff kicked off the evening finals, touching in fifth with a time of 1:30.21.
- On the men's side, the 200 Freestyle Relay team of Colton McGrady, Milo Shue, Blake Johnson and Jack Christian, clocked a time of 1:20.81, to finish in eighth in the event.
- Sarah Foley recorded the first podium of the night for the Blue Devils in the 200 IM, finishing second with a time of 1:56.13, while Catherine Belyakov finished fifth, touching with a time of 1:58.54.
- In the women's 50 Freestyle, Wall finished sixth in the Championship final, recording a time of 22.57.
- Alongside Duke's record-breaking 400 Medley Relay time of 3:31.33, the Blue Devils also recorded a fourth-place finish in the event, as Molly Donlan, Belyakov, Martina Peroni and Wall, clocked in at 3:36.20.
- At the Tennessee Invitational, Duke's Ali Watson recorded a sixth-place finish in the 3-meter championship, tallying a score of 298.00.
- A pair of Blue Devil divers placed fourth and fifth respectively in the men's 1-meter dive at the Tennessee Invitational, as William McCollum (322.75) and Seamus Harding Jr. (318.55) scored in the finals.
- In the women's Springboard event, Duke's A-Team finished first, ahead of Alabama, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky and UNCA with a score of 314.35.
FRIDAY TIMELINE
Prelims for the 400 IM, 100 Butterfly, 200 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke and 100 Backstroke begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue throughout the morning. The finals for the 200 Medley Relay, 400 IM, 100 Butterfly, 200 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Backstroke and 800 Freestyle Relay begin at 5:30 p.m. and continue throughout the evening.
