PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The ninth-ranked Duke men's soccer team played to a scoreless draw at No. 23 Pittsburgh on Saturday night. The Blue Devils (8-3-2, 3-3-1) and Panthers (6-4-4, 2-2-3) finished in a 0-0 draw for the second consecutive season, after finishing with the same result in the 2022 season. Freshman goalkeeper
Julian Eyestone made three saves, including two diving second-half stops, en route to the fifth clean sheet of his young career.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Antino Lopez found himself with the first good scoring opportunity of the match in the 16th minute, but his header sailed just over the crossbar.
- Pittsburgh earned the first corner of the night just over three minutes later, but Julian Eyestone calmly punched away the threat.
- The Blue Devils earned the first corner of their own in the 31st minute but the cross made its way through the penalty box without any further danger presented.
- Duke continued to push forward, with Fahmi Ibrahim and Luke Thomas forcing the second and third saves of the half by the Panthers' goalkeeper in the 40th and 42nd minutes, respectively.
- At halftime, the Blue Devils held a 6-2 advantage in overall shots and a 3-0 edge in shots on goal.
- The scoring nearly started less than a minute into the second half, but Nick Pariano was unable to get a full shot on a cross, blasting his attempt right at the goalkeeper.
- The Panthers found themselves with two point-blank shots in the 61st minute, but Eyestone made two sprawling saves to keep the score knotted at zero. Â
- Bull Jorgensen forced a turnover in front of the penalty box in the 85th minute but the Panthers' goalkeeper made his sixth save of the match.
- The hosts earned a corner in the 88th minute but the service was turned away by Duke's defense. Pittsburgh fired one final shot with just over 10 seconds remaining, but the attempt sailed just wide of the right post, wrapping up the scoreless draw.

- Duke outshot Pittsburgh, 12-9, including a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal.
- The Blue Devils moved to 4-0-1 in 2023 when shutting out their opponent and 1-1-1 in top-25 matchups.
- Julian Eyestone tallied his fifth shutout of the season and lowered his goals against average to just 1.08.
- The freshman goalkeeper has only allowed two goals across Duke's last four matches.
