Duke Opens the Season at Penn State Duals

DURHAM – The Duke fencing team is set to kick off the 2023 regular season Sunday at the Penn State Duals in State College, Pa. The Blue Devils are slated to compete against six teams at the White Building on Penn State's campus.
On Sunday, the men are slated to face No. 2 Columbia, No. 5 Penn State, No. 8 Penn, No. 11 Yale and Haverford. The women will compete against No. 3 Columbia, No. 6 Penn State, No. 8 Penn, No. 11 Temple, No. 12 Yale and Haverford.
Head coach Alex Beguinet's program enters the year ranked on both sides. The men check in at No. 7 in the nation while the women are tabbed No. 10. The Blue Devils are coming off a successful 2022 season and look to carry that momentum into the New Year.
Captains Christina Ferrari, Finn Hossfeld, Terence Lee and Zsofia Walter look to lead the Blue Devils to a successful 2023 campaign. This group features individuals that have qualified for the NCAA Fencing Championship and have garnered ACC medals numerous times throughout their careers.
Additionally, the fencing team, in partnership with the Duke Cancer Institute, announced the Fence for the Fight campaign will relaunch for the 2023 season in memoriam of Elizabeth Beguinet. Elizabeth, Director of Administration and Recruiting for the Duke fencing program, passed away December 17 after a long fight with breast cancer. More information

Following the Penn State Duals, Duke will return to the state of Pennsylvania for the Philadelphia Invitational Jan. 21.
