Schedule Updates
- Due to the forecasted heavy rains Friday the Duke and Wake Forest game was moved to Oct. 2 in Winston-Salem. The Blue Devils' contest at Old Dominion, originally scheduled for Oct. 2, has been moved to Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 2 p.m.
The Opening Hit
- Duke hits the road this weekend for a pair of day trips. The Blue Devils continue their ACC slate Friday at Wake Forest before traveling to Old Dominion Sunday.
- The Blue Devils are 4-6 this season after a pair of tough setbacks to Boston College and James Madison. All of Duke's losses have come against top 25 opponents.
- Wake Forest is 6-3 overall and 0-1 in ACC play with the loss to North Carolina last weekend. Old Dominion is 6-2 with both losses coming in overtime.
- The Blue Devils have a balanced offense with 10 different players scoring at least one goal this season. Duke is searching for its first ACC win since April 10, 2021.
- This weekend's contests mark the seventh and eighth ranked opponents Duke has faced in 2022.

Scouting Wake Forest
- Wake Forest returns home for the first time since Sept. 16 when it hosts the Blue Devils Friday. The Demon Deacons are 6-3 overall, but have only played one ACC contest - a 2-0 loss to current No. 1 North Carolina. The other two setbacks came to Big 10 foes Iowa and Michigan. Wake Forest leads the ACC in penalty corners with 7.78 per game and is ninth nationally in goals at 3.11 per game.
- The Deacons are led on offense by Meike Lanckohr's seven goals and four assists, while Grace Delmotte has three goals and six assists. Hannah Maxwell and Ashley Hart both have five goals apiece. Delmotte leads the ACC and is 17th nationally in assists per game (0.67). Defensively, Wake Forest is allowing 1.56 goals per game and has two shutouts. In goal, Ellie Todd has played eight games and sports a 1.93 goals against average and a .730 save percentage. Tori Glaister has played five games and 177 minutes, making eight saves.
Scouting Old Dominion
- Old Dominion enters its two-game set this weekend with a 6-2 overall record. The Monarchs are ranked 12th nationally and have lost to both No. 11 UConn and William & Mary in double overtime. ODU is ranked in the top 20 nationally in both scoring average and goals against average.
- Marlon de Bruijne and Delphine Le Jeune lead the Monarch office with 15 points apiece. de Bruijne has six goals and three assists, while Le Jeune has seven goals and one assist. Frederique Zandbergen is the playmaker for the Monarchs with six assists. Old Dominion is 10th nationally in points per game at 9.12. The Monarchs are allowing 1.28 goals per game to rank 20th nationally. Cam MacGillivray has played every minute in goal for the Monarchs, posting a 1.28 goals against average and a .796 save percentage. She ranks 29th among Division I goalies with 5.38 saves per game.

- Duke and Old Dominion share three common opponents in William & Mary, Boston College and James Madison. The Monarchs are 2-1 in those three games, while Duke is 0-3. Both teams lost to William & Mary.
- Wake Forest and the Blue Devils have only one opponent in common so far. Both teams captured an overtime win over Appalachian State.

- Duke and Wake Forest are meeting for the 81st time in the programs' histories. The Blue Devils hold a 44-36 overall record against the Demon Deacons, but Wake Forest has the recent success, winning three of the past four. Duke's last win against Wake Forest was a 2-0 triumph in 2020. The Blue Devils' last road win was in 2018, a 3-2 victory. A winner of two straight, Wake Forest looks to grab its third consecutive victory over the Blue Devils since winning seven straight from 2006-2010.
- The Blue Devils travel to Norfolk, Va., for the first time since 2018. Old Dominion leads the all-time series 24-21, but Duke has won eight straight against the Monarchs, dating back to 2013. ODU's last victory over the Blue Devils was a 3-1 victory in 2013 in Durham.

- Wake Forest jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals from Lanckohr in the first 10 minutes en route to a 3-1 victory in Durham in 2021. The Blue Devils' goal came from Noor van de Laar as the Deacons outshot Duke, 12-7 for the game. Piper Hampsch made five saves in the cage for Duke.

About The Blue Devils
- Duke is back on the road this weekend with two more top-25 opponents. The Blue Devils are 4-6 and in search of their first ACC win since April 10, 2021 against Louisville. Ranked 22nd in the latest NFHCA poll, Duke looks to find ways to score after 1-0 and 4-2 losses last weekend. Miller leads the way with 12 points (3g, 6a) and Issy Carey has three goals and eight points, while Logan Clouser has four goals.
- The Blue Devils have been dangerous in the circle, earning 74 penalty corners. Duke is second in the league and 13th nationally with 7.40 penalty corners per game and continues to work toward capitalizing on those scoring opportunities.
- Defensively, the Blue Devils have an entirely new backline and are garnering quality experience every day as a unit. Senior Mary Harkins has stepped up as a captain, while sophomore Megan Maransky is having an outstanding sophomore campaign. Rookie Paige Bitting has started the past eight games as a crucial piece to the backline. In goal, Piper Hampsch is averaging 3.70 saves per game and has a .607 save percentage. Grace Brightbill has played in three games and has not allowed a goal in 53:44 of action.

- Duke is averaging 7.40 penalty corners per game, ranking second in the ACC. Defensively, Wake Forest is only allowing its opponents 3.89 penalty corners per outing and Old Dominion is at a 3.5 per game average. The Blue Devils have had at least three corners in every game this season and has had five-plus eight times.
Penalty Corners Galore
- Duke has been dynamic in the scoring circle, earning 74 penalty corners. The Blue Devils' first goal of 2022 came off a rebound from a blocked penalty corner shot and Issy Carey notched her first career goal directly off her hit from the corner.
- The Blue Devils found success in the set piece against Colgate, scoring five goals off the penalty corner. Duke was outstanding in creating redirect opportunities with Clouser being on the end of three of the sweeps.
- The 74 penalty corners are 31 more than Duke created in the first 10 games in 2021. The Blue Devils ranked seventh in the ACC and 52nd nationally in penalty corners last season at 5.06 per game and are 13th nationally and second in the ACC this season.
