DURHAM – It was a busy weekend in the professional lacrosse ranks for a host of former Blue Devils as the Premier Lacrosse League announced its award winners, the playoffs continued with the semifinal games and the National Lacrosse League held its annual draft.
Blue Devils Looking to Take Home PLL Title
Duke men's lacrosse standouts 
CJ Costabile, 
Patrick Resch and 
Michael Sowers each helped their respective PLL squads – Chaos and Waterdogs – advance to the PLL Championship game.
Costabile and Resch anchored the Chaos defense to the title game with a hard-fought 9-7 triumph over the Archers. The Chaos was the final team to qualify for the postseason as the No. 7 seed and upset Nos. 2 and 3 along the way to a chance to repeat as PLL Champions. Costabile finished his afternoon with two ground balls, while Resch had one. The Archers entered the contest as the league's highest scoring team during the regular season and were held to just seven goals – the fewest for the club all season.
Sowers, a top attackman for Waterdogs, posted three goals and an assist to help the team edge two-time PLL Champions Whipsnakes, 11-10. He scored the Waterdogs' first three goals and provided an assist to make it 8-8 in the fourth quarter.

Giles-Harris Takes Home PLL's Top Defensive Honor
The ACC Defensive Player of the Year in 2019 and the National Defenseman of the Year in 2021, 
JT Giles-Harris has another trophy to add to his collection as the Dave Pietramala Defender of the Year for the PLL. Giles-Harris recently completed his first year of professional lacrosse, leading Chrome to its best season in franchise history.
Drawing the toughest matchup every weekend, Giles-Harris finished the year with 11 caused turnovers and 24 ground balls in the 10 regular season games. With the former Blue Devil anchoring the defensive efforts around the crease, Chrome ranked second on goals allowed at 102. In 2021, the club gave up 115 goals in nine outings.
 
Badour, Montgomery Find Spots in NLL 
Two-time first-team All-American 
Nakeie Montgomery signed a one-year deal with the Las Vegas Desert Dogs of the National Lacrosse League, the organization announced Sept. 10. He joined Alec Simons and Conrad Chapman as signees with the expansion team.
The NLL entry draft was held Sept. 11 and Duke midfielder 
Cameron Badour was selected in the third round with the 49th pick overall by the Saskatchewan Rush. Badour, battling injuries during his Duke career, finish with 24 goals and 12 assists for 36 points. He played 38 games with eight starting assignments.
