LIMERICK, IRELAND – The United States U20 Men's National Team kicked off the 2022 U21 World Lacrosse Championship with a 7-5 victory over Canada Wednesday morning. A quartet of Blue Devils helped the U.S. earn the win over its rivals, getting off on the right foot in Pool A play.
Juniors
Brennan O'Neill and
Jake Naso both had strong debuts with Team USA with O'Neill scoring twice, including the seventh goal to seal the victory. At the faceoff dot, Naso was unstoppable, winning 10-of-11 restarts. O'Neill was the lone player to score multiple goals for the United States.
Senior
Jake Caputo was instrumental on the faceoff wing and joined close defenseman
Kenny Brower as part of the defensive unit that held Canada to only five goals across the four quarters. Caputo picked up one ground ball.
The United States returns to action to play England, Aug. 11 at 11 a.m. (ET). The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
Pool A competition runs through Monday, Aug. 15. The quarterfinals begin Aug. 17 with the medal round coming Aug. 20. Full details of the championship can be found at:
