DURHAM – Duke wrestling head coach
Glen Lanham has announced the addition of
Jarred Papcsy as a transfer student, beginning in the 2022-23 season. Papcsy joins the Blue Devils via NC State, with two years of eligibility remaining.
"Jarred is going to be a solid addition to our program," said Lanham. "He comes to us with the experience of training in a top-10 program. We're very excited to have him as part of the Duke wrestling team."
A native of Nazareth, Pa., Papcsy has spent much of his Wolfpack career at 141 pounds, with experience at 133 and 149 pounds as well. Papcsy went 7-7 during the 2021-22 season, which featured a six-match winning streak from Nov. 14 through Dec. 5 and a fifth-place finish at the Wolfpack Wrestling Club Open on Nov. 14.
Papcsy has found success in several early season tournaments over the years, with a fourth-place finish in the Pembroke Classic in 2018-19 and a fifth-place standing at the Battle at the Citadel during the 2019-20 campaign. Over his career in Raleigh, Papcsy compiled a record of 33-26.
Prior to NC State, Papcsy helped lead Bethlehem Catholic High School to two state championships. Papcsy was also a 2017 Fargo Greco All-American and a fourth-place finisher in the 3A PA state championships as a junior.
Papcsy joins
Christian Colman,
Jonah Niesenbaum and
Jack Wimmer as the fourth Blue Devil from the Keystone State. The incoming graduate student will join several young counterparts with experience at 141 pounds, including Colman,
