DURHAM – The fourth season of the Premier Lacrosse League gets underway this weekend, June 4-5, and Duke will be well represented with 12 former Blue Devils on opening weekend rosters. The set of four games will be held at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium in Albany, N.Y.
Making their Premier Lacrosse League debuts will be
JT Giles-Harris, Nakeie Montgomery and
Joe Robertson. Giles-Harris was drafted third overall by Chrome in 2021 but missed the season due to injury. Montgomery was taken 19th Redwoods, while Robertson was picked up by the Redwoods following the training camp.
Montgomery and Robertson join former Blue Devil standout
Myles Jones on the Redwoods. All three were prolific scorers during their time at Duke with the trio combining for 597 points from 360 goals and 237 assists. Montgomery and Jones are two of Duke's four two-time First-Team All-American midfielders in program history. Jones is the veteran of the group, starting his eighth season of professional lacrosse and third with the Redwoods. One of the premier midfielders in the league, Jones has 63 points from 27 goals (23 1pt, 4 2pt) and 32 assists in his 25 games.

Michael Manley and shortstick defenseman
Will Haus for Chrome. In his three seasons with Chrome, he has played in 22 games, collected 42 ground balls and forced 20 turnovers. He also has eight points. He is beginning his 11th season of professional lacrosse. Haus heads into his eighth season of professional lacrosse and fourth with the Chrome. In his three seasons in the PLL, he has 36 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers to go with his eight points.

CJ Costabile and
Patrick Resch suit up for Chaos, while
Cade Van Raaphorst is back on close defense with Atlas.
Michael Sowers bolsters the attack line for Waterdogs and
Brad Smith and
Justin Guterding join forces on Whipsnakes.
Costabile joined the PLL in 2021 following the merger of the MLL and PLL. He played four games for Chrome before heading to Chaos. In his five games with the PLL champions, he picked up 13 ground balls and caused five turnovers and scored a pair of two-point goals. He joins Manley as the most veteran Blue Devils in the league.
Resch has been a mainstay for Chaos defensive midfield unit, playing in 24 games over the course of three seasons. He is in his eighth season of professional lacrosse and has 26 ground balls and eight caused turnovers in his PLL career.
Van Raaphorst, a 2019 draft selection by Atlas, starts his fourth season in the league. An anchor on close defense, he has 64 ground balls and 36 caused turnovers in 23 career games. Sowers played just one game in his rookie PLL season before suffering a season-ending injury. He scored two goals in his debut.
Smith is in his third season with Whipsnakes, while Guterding starts his second after being traded by Chrome. Playing attack, Smith missed the 2019 season to injury but has 36 points from 19 goals and 17 assists in just 15 games. Guterding, running out of the box, played in eight games for Whipsnakes last season, scoring six goals and dishing three assists. He is in his fifth season of professional lacrosse.
The group of 12 Blue Devils return to North Carolina the following weekend when the PLL comes to Charlotte June 17-18. The PLL will visit 14 cities over the course of the season with all games being broadcast on the ESPN family of networks.
