DURHAM – Duke Director of Track & Field and Cross Country
Shawn Wilbourn has announced the latest addition to the Blue Devils' incoming class, as graduate transfer
Emily Sloan will join the fold for the 2022-23 campaign.
"We are so excited to welcome Emily to the Duke Track & Field family. Her success on the track at Oregon speaks for itself, and our program will also benefit tremendously from her leadership qualities," said Wilbourn. "Emily was a team captain at Oregon, and she was also one of their top-three hurdlers in school history. That says something coming from a school with that kind of history."
Sloan heads to Durham after graduating from the University of Oregon where she enjoyed a stellar track and field career for the Ducks. Specializing in the 60m and 100m hurdles, the Littleton, Colo., native holds personal bests of 8.02 seconds and 13.04 seconds in those respective events – both marks ranking third all-time at Oregon.
A three-time NCAA West Regional qualifier, Sloan earned 2021 All-America Second Team honors following a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the 60m hurdles. She also saw success in the classroom as she was a three-time USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honoree as well as a 2020 Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll selection.
Sloan becomes the 13th member of Duke's 2022 class, joining incoming freshmen
